Game Ideas

Based on my reading in task one, The knowledge I gained about gaming is goals. What is the user trying to achieve ? A goal offers focus, direction, and measurable outcomes. A goal is a technique of determining the effectiveness of a gaming engagement.  A game needs to be provide an enjoyable experience for the users.

One of the ideas I have brainstormed for my game idea is an interactive mobile game. The reason why I picked this game is because I mainly game on my mobile device. Nowadays, kids have grown up in the era of social networks and mobile apps. Children receiving information from books and tv are now in the past. Gaming on a mobile device has become so popular in the last decade, and it would be more accessible to users to play the game, rather than play on a console or laptop. I think gaming on mobile and tablets are much more easier for players especially children, as it doesn't not involve using a mouse or controller just your fingers. I always loved playing interactive games to whether it was creative game that allows you to do arts and craft, such as paint, colour in pictures and build something. Thats concludes my interest and hopefully I can delve into it more.

The game I would love to construct is an educational mobile game for children. I would tackle this assignment by researching elements designs for children's app, colour contrast and background and dimming. I would also analyse the layout of the game and how easy and accessible it is for the user that is a child. I'd also tackle this game by thinking of a good navigation. Children tend to tap frequently and could get lost and confused in the programming interface. This link describes the idea I have for this game.

Shooting/Archery game. I love playing the 3D archery games, like  Target- Archery. They're so fun and addictive. I would spend  hours trying to get a bullseye. I would love to create a 3D shooting game. The user would have to shoot at a target and maybe have limited arrows and must gain enough points to get to the next stage. I feel I could explore many ideas with this game, the target can be anything like a balloons, people, animals and so on... and different scenes and characters.

The never ending running game. I remember the first game I downloaded on my Ipad was Temple Run and my siblings and I would past the Ipad around and see who can get the highest score. Again endless running games is definitely the most addicting game on a mobile device. Again you can explore different characters, scenes and obstacles. The idea I have is the user being chased by a monster because the user stole a valuable item and is running and jumping over buildings and rooftops. The user will encounter obstacles like water tank or chimneys. The user can gain momentum when it collects speed tokens.

Finally, driving game. I love driving cars and driving really fast when playing games.  Games like Bike Race the player drives a motorbike through amazing tracks with jumps and loops in the simple and fast paced physics based game. I am drawing ideas from this game and the user can drive a vehicle and would have to face tracks and loops.

  1. Hey Alex, I love that you're thinking of focusing on making an educational game it's something I haven't seen anyone else thinking of creating. I look forward to seeing how you develop these ideas!
