Game Design

What is a game? Source: Flickr From my analysis, and personal perception of games this question I proposed ' what is a game?' can be answered in several ways.  A game consist of rules and obstacles to navigate the player to the end goal.  Games can be creative, in order to have an enjoyable game it must consist a good narrative for the user to enjoy.  The components of a game; rules, action and storyline. If you want to have a captivating game, construct rules of what your player can or cannot do while playing the game.  Conflict is an important aspect, as a result of a game procedures and rules that impede a player from attaining their aim. Players are frequently led to these conflict situations by their objectives.  Another crucial factor to consider is goals. What is the user trying to achieve? A goal provides direction, attention and measurable results.  A objective is a way to gauge the effectiveness of a game interaction.  Despite the fact they are simulation of somethi

Tme Strategies

Time management consumes of clearing your schedule and prioritising the important things in your life.  My thoughts on time management strategies seems to be a useful tool to carry into this semester, as there is huge volume or workload. Applying the time management to this module is certainly a must, once you plan your week and prioritise the workload and even visualise yourself complete the weekly task I feel will certainly help. Once you identified your priorities, which starts with what you have to do and then what you need to do.  The articles I read were THE MYTH OF "TOO BUSY" and   How To Beat Procrastination . These articles were certainly useful. One thing from the articles that seems useful is to tell others what your goal is. Once you say your goal to someone you don't want to appear lazy. Another thing from these articles is to prioritise your life and set goals for each week.  From last year semester I found myself being the biggest procrastinator. I spent

Technology

The technology tools I am eager to work with is Unity3D. I have never used it before, but from my observation it seems astonishing. I am excited to use RSS feed to check my peers blogs and connect to them too!  I have used the technology tools Canvas and Spark, which I found fairly easy to use. I used these tools in last year semester. I am also familiar with editing and cropping images which seems like second nature to me. I am excited to delve into next week to start using these tools.  This online environment reminds me of last year, trying to figure out how to use new tools like adobe software. I feel like using other technology tools will prepare us for the real world.  High technologies in everyday construction works Marco Verc 2020 source: flickr

Assignments

Image
The most intriguing assignment is the module is Unity3D. I am really interested in watching the tutorials and expand my skillsets in different softwares. Also I love the aspect of other students commenting on my blog and browsing through other students blogs.  This module is extremely unusual and it will take some time to adjust. It is different from any other module, as you work in your own time ensuring you're completing the tasks for each week. You create your own timetable and also you reward yourself with points at the end of each task that will count for your final grade of this module.  The extra module that seems intriguing is growth mindset. I would love to delve more into this topic as it seem super beneficial. I would love to improve and develop more skills for college.  Assignment by Nick Youngson CC BY-SA 3.0   Alpha Stock Images

Growth Mindset

Image
I have never learned about Carol Dweck, but I have known about growth mindset for some time now. Today I learned about growth mindset in this task by watching Carol Dweck Ted Talks   Growth mindset is engaging in the process of learning in order to achieve a goal that is to praise the process, efforts, strategies, focus and perseverance and not the intelligence and talent. Growth mindset is an equal way in learning. If you're in the mindset of a growth mindset the neurones in the brain make a stronger connection to be smarter. In growth mindset intelligence can be developed with effort, dedication, learning and mentorship.  Personally, I do see myself on the middle of the growth-fixed mindset scale when it comes to college work. When I was finding one particular module challenging in last semester I had the mindset to give up.  In my activities such as making music I do tend to go towards a fixed mindset.  In my own learning I discovered I do seek praise for finding things easier

Introduction

Image
Hey let me introduce myself. I'm Alex Partridge I am 20 years old and from Dublin and currently studying Creative Digital Media at TU Dublin.  I am now in second year, I'm super excited to be on campus and meet new people. My goal this semester is to achieve a grade to my best ability and learn new skills, such as collaborating new ideas with my peers in group projects. I also want to enhance my skills in areas of filming and editing this semester. My goal this year is not to leave assignments to "last minute" and try and balance college work and social life.   Last year was bittersweet, as I made new friends it was a bummer I wasn't on campus due to covid. The modules I relished last semester was Design Process and Practice and Image Production. I got to learn learn several new skills for instance how to use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshopped software. My biggest accomplished last semester was creating a movie poster for "Avatar the last Airbender" and

Spider-man "Favourite Game"

Image
When I was assigned to think of my favourite game I immediately thought of  Marvel's Spider-man for ps4 and now ps5. The developers provided the player with the ultimate spider-man experience. The outstanding web slinging around New York City, also the incredible level of detail to the graphics add to the overall experience. The creation of the storyline and villains is another reason why I love this game and why I completed the game several times.                                      Marvel's Spider-man ps4 game uploaded September 6, 2018  Find the image here
